Waterly Backup Policy
Disaster Recovery Backups
Data Entry Auditing
Waterly application and database servers are load-balanced, redundant and configured for automatic fail-over. In addition, production databases are backed up continuously, 24 hours per day, for all customers. Backups are stored in a secure storage area, primarily for disaster recovery purposes. All data and backups are stored in data centers in the United States. We don't keep the data to ourselves; our customers may request a full backup (archive) of their data at any time with a support request.
For the more technically-savy, Waterly employs "point-in-time" recovery, which allows us to recover data from any specific point in time, down to a fraction of a second, via write-ahead log archiving.
Waterly was designed by operators for operators, which means we get why you want accurate records. It's not for the 99.9% of the time that everything is operating normally. It's for the few times when you REALLY need to know who changed what data when. For that reason, Waterly audits most all actions in the software, including most configuration changes, user changes, and data changes performed through our user interface, capturing the individual logged in, the date and time stamp that the data was changed, as well as the prior and changed data. If our customers ever want a copy of the audit log, it is only a support ticket away.
